What One Word Will Guide Your Whole Year?

Words have power. Words can shape our reality.

I’m a member of Mario Armstrong’s Never Settle Club, a free online community of people turning their passions into their life’s work.

Mario posted this graphic the other day and it got me thinking about what my one word will be for 2015 that will drive my experiences:

Here’s a clip of Mario explaining why he thinks you should just choose ONE word instead of making a resolution list for the new year, and how that approach changed his life:

My word for 2015 is INTENTIONAL

I recently watched a great video in which Oprah was interviewed about her life, career, and the choices she’s made. Oprah talked about the power of the intent behind the things we do, which inspired my word.

Here’s that Oprah interview; it’s definitely worth a watch/listen:

    1. That’s a GREAT word.

I’m increasingly spending less time on social media because the ROI just isn’t there-personally, nor for the business.

I use Meet Edgar to schedule and share all my posts on twitter, and that’s it. I don’t care about Pinterest, posting to Facebook, or Instagram. I post something when I am occassionally inspired. I am active in the Never Settle Club Facebook group b/c those folks inspire and help me.

I don’t buy into all the theories about having to post all the time. It might drive engagement for some, but it’s done NOTHING for my biz.

Good luck and keep me posted on how that goes.

Oh, and follow me on FB, so I can invite you to the NeverSettleClub Facebook group. Here’s my FB profile link: https://www.facebook.com/james.oliver.5851

  1. I love this article! I don’t want to steal/re-use your word, but I think that word, intentional is perfect for what I want to do this year as well. I want to be intentional in every single move I make this year. I want to be intentional in my spending, where I focus my energy, the decisions I make, & everything.

    1. Well, I’m sure you’re gonna crush it when you do put it into practice. You’re super talented, Tamara. Here’s to 2015.

  2. Great post! I think my word will be “Focus.” This year I intend to focus in laserlike fashion on the things that matter the most: God, Family, and my business. I need to focus on accomplishing my goals for this year and pursue them aggressively.
